The VLG Edge

Our commitment to pro bono legal services runs deep at Vocke Law Group. Our lawyers have provided legal representation to those without the means to afford legal representation and to advance issues of state or national significance. Some of the significant pro bono matters and projects handled by our attorneys in the past include:

  • Representation of those with special needs to ensure they receive meaningful special education or appropriate accommodations, including representation of students and parents at IEP meetings and in due process administrative hearings and federal court. One of our partners received the inaugural Eamon Shannon award from the Center for Disability and Elder Law for outstanding results obtained in pro bono special education cases.
  • Assisting Cook County criminal justice stakeholders with the Civic Consulting Alliance to prepare intergovernmental agreements and to improve the flow of electronic data across interested agencies from time of arrest to release.
  • Service as class counsel for a class of inmates denied a hearing and due process before being sent to solitary confinement in a state supermax prison.
  • Representation and amicus curiae briefing by the non-partisan Illinois Campaign for Political Reform in favor of transparency in political funding to combat political corruption.
  • Assisting a Chicago nonprofit organization that focuses on increasing access to healthy and affordable food in food deserts in Chicago, including preparation of written policies and procedures and enhance enterprise risk management.
  • Representation of disabled adults in petitions for appointment of guardianships.
